Unity Blog Hop

Hey everyone, Amanda here with the Unity Design Team blog hop... I am going to kick things off with this Wonderful Tierra Jackson kit Called Snowbuddies. They are so cute!

I colored the cute little trio with Copic markers.
I made the fun galaxy background with Tim Holtz Distress inks I then took water in my hands and clapped them over the page to create water droplets and let them dry to give it texture. I then used glitter paint and splattered it over to give it shine. I just love how it turned out.
For my next card I used Tierra Jackson's kit Showing Up Gnome

Aren't these just darling!!! If you love all things by Tierra Jackson like I do, your going to want to get this set. Oh and those mushrooms! I just love this kit. I colored them with copic markers and then sewed around the card so fun. Pssst the Mushroom on the side is called 3 shrooms by Lisa Arana

Gift box

Hey everyone I am just loving this Christmas season I thought why not share some of my fun creations with you. Little gift boxes, they are just the perfect size for candy or even a gift card. Lets just jump right in and get started.

First you will need 1 paper cut at 6 by 8 1/2 and then 2 pieces of card stock cut at 3 3/4

on the 8 1/2 side score the paper at 4" and 8"

then turn the paper to the 6" side  and score 1" and the 5"

Turn the paper to the 8 1/2" side again and score to the 1" line score at the 2" & 6"   now on this side your going to cut those 4 score lines to the 1" score line but not past.

6" side cut off the corners on the 1" tab and miter the edges to make it fold nice.

place the box so the 4 cut edges are up at the top. You will score at the score from the center to the bottom left at a diagonal.

and then form that same center point score to the bottom right on the diagonal. Do the same for the same for the other side so your box looks like this.

now on to the 3 3/4 papers fold in the center and cut on the diagonal

and then cut the other side on the diagonal  cute both papers this way these will be glued to the box.

so on the side there is a 1" tab put tap on the side.

this will keep the box shut.
take off the tape and close the box making sure the flap goes on the inside.

on the bottom flaps put 2 pieces of tape on 2 of the flaps to shut the bottom, and now you box will stay shut. Pretty awesome, right!!! :D such a fun box to make. I hope you give this a try and please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

The stamps used are Mittens in Winter from  Unity Stamp co.

December Blog Hop

Good morning everyone. I m so excited to be in my first blog hop I love trying to find new ways to use my stamps and this just happens to be one of them. Christmas ornaments out of air dry clay. I mentioned to some of you that I would be showing how I make these so lets get started. :D

I am a big fan of making our own Christmas ornaments, it brings such good memories to Christmas for me. Something handmade is always better then store bought I always believe. I love to use polymer clay but for this I just wanted to try something new.

This is the Clay I used. I took my stamp that I wanted to use and pushed it into the clay, then cut around it being careful not to touch the design to much. I pierced a hole at the top for the string to draw through.
I allowed the clay to sit for 2 days, it says 24 hours but I felt the longer the better.

I took distress ink and a water brush and brushed on ground espresso all over it to give it a vintage wash look. I wiped off the high points of the image so that the ink was only in the groves. Then painted red over the banner and scallops to make it pop.

Here it is on my tree. I just love how it turned out don't you!

I hope you enjoyed this little technique and give it a try for yourself.

Growing in Unity Day 5 Totes, Tags, and a card

Happy Friday everyone. I have been having so much fun being a GIU Girl this week. Thank you for coming along for the fun. I will be announcing the winner Monday so don't forget to comment for your chance to win 25 Stamps from Unity.
For my last day I thought I would show you some fun things I like to do with my stamps from Tags on Tote bags and even a card.
For this tag I used Unity Stamp Co. Planner Gal Love them and colored her in with Copic markers.

I love to stuff these hand made tote bags with handmade Unity goodies.  People really love to get them as gifts and its a great way to store them too. For this tag I used  Be A Beauty. These Planner Gals from Angie Blom are so great for tags they are just the right size of beauty for them too.

So to make the Tote bag here are the measurements

The base 11" by 7"
Score on the 11" side @ the 2" and 9" mark
Score on the 7" side @ the 2" and 5" mark
fold all the score lines, and cut up to score line on the 11" side on both sides to create a box glue in the folds. So you will only cut 4 times for the base these cuts only  happen on the 11" side. Now time for the fancy DSP for the sides.
You will need 2 Pieces of DSP cut at 6" by 10 1/2"Glue the 2 strips together to make 1 long piece.
Take double sided sticky tape and run it along the bottom of your DSP  and along one of the sides and put that tape on the side you don't want to be the Fancy side. Then glue that to your base box you just made.
For the strip along the base of the box you will need 4 strips of paper 1" 1/2 by 11" and glue this to the base and to the top of your bag. I made mine so I could use my paper punch and make it really fancy.  For the Handles you will need 2 strips at 1" and run sticky tape in the middle and not all the way to the ends. Fold them in half glue them to the bag and that's it. You have a great gift tote bag for your cards.

Now on to some Christmas tags. I also used the Planner Gals Cold OutsideMerry Doe
I used embossing folders for the snowflakes and used Vintage Photo to distress the tags.
I colored the gals with Copics cut them out and put them in a frame. I loved the vintage songbook pages that I placed behind them. They look like carolers.

This is it my last one for the week. I used the kit Girl Truly and Cecelia Girl.
I gold embossed the flowers and colored them in with Prisma Color Pencils, added some sequence and Nuvo drops and that's it.

I am really Happy you stopped in and played along this week. Don't forget to leave a comment before you leave.

Growing in Unity Day 4 Mixed Media Journal page

Happy Thursday to you all. It's day 4 being a Growing in Unity With Unity Stamp Co. and it has been so fun. For today I wanted to do a little Mixed Media Journal page for you. I have used so many kits for this but it was lots of fun so lets get to it.

I don't know about all of you, but I have a hard time believing I make things that look good. I have a few Unity friends that remind me that I do and to be proud of what you do. So I made  this Journal page to remind me that no matter what,I am good enough and if I like it that's what matters. lol

For this technique I used Tim Holts Distress inks and Oxide inks. I first put down a good layer of  Gesso, this is to insure my paper is water proof. I layered lots of ink down and dried it in between some of the colors.

I then stamped randomly all over the edges of the pages with some of my favorite Stamps by Jolande and Marleen.   I just love how Mixed Media has no rules. It can be what ever you want. I then splattered the pages with white and black paint. I waited for the white to dry first so if they mixed it wouldn't make gray. I added a few of my favorite Unity uplifting messages, added washi and that's it. I am currently working on a canvas with this inspiration behind it.

Here is some of the things used to make this page.

So for my last card for today I had to use this Months KOTM girl
I Just love how it has turned out.

I colored her with Tim Holtz distress markers on water color paper. I have done a fun little technique with this one. I took a piece of cross stitch fabric, got it damp and placed it over in small sections at a time  and got it wet. This caused a really cool cross stitch pattern left behind.

I then finished coloring her in with distress markers. I cut out a frame with a die cut , then wrapped the frame in wshi tape.

There you go that's it. I hope you enjoyed my projects today. Please don't forget to leave me a comment so I can enter you in for a chance to win 25 Red Rubber Stamps.
Here is what I used for this card.
